As a Banking Operations Manager you will work to design, implement and manage the technical systems underlying Financial Operations supporting the ongoing business.

Your skills will lie in a high level understanding of technical configurations as well as the ability to design new technical solutions for upcoming projects. Ongoing tasks involve examining the cause of technical and business-blocking technical errors and (to put it simply) fixing them. Whether these issues arise due to a process lacking appropriate resolution pathways, due to structural or technical changes, is systemic, or is a one off problem for which a one-off technical solution needs be implemented - you will be responsible for seeing it through. 
Your tasks consist of both periodic tasks and a constantly evolving day-to-day project-based structure as solutions are developed and problems resolved.

Your job? You will…

  • be an integral part of a broader technical operations team that’s focused on defining and developing technical solutions to deliver improvements to the systems underlying our issuing platform.
  • work closely with other teams from the wider business including Engineering and Product Management to continue to offer customers industry leading and reliable products.
  • be crucial in redefining our processes, to allow our team to thrive in the most efficient environment possible and build the most efficient digital banking world.
  • use your great research, data analysis and decision-making skills to take ownership and juggle the wide range of varied improvements, new products, technical issues and fixes which come your way.
  • work with a variety of internally developed software systems to manage card issuing, financial money flows well as well as the internal user experience of these systems itself.
  • be confident in your ability to assess and take responsibility for the financial impact of decisions made as part of the job
  • monitor daily operations to ensure a free flow process 
  • ensure that payments are validated and processed  in an accurate and timely manner. If there are any  technical issues found , bring it to the immediate attention of the Dev Team with a clear description of the issue. (as a bug ticket)
  • generate manual payments on online payment applications wherever required.
  • manage a variety of investigations including failed payments and non-receipts, and refunds or cancellations
  • liaise with and assist the Frontend Customer Service Team on various topics  as required
  • comply with all applicable company, regulatory and internal compliance requirements, including the prevention of Crime and Fraud 
  • work with the Product or Dev team on projects and other  initiatives.

What skills and traits you need?

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field
  • Experience with or knowledge in financial / banking software, knowledge about SEPA and International payments  as well as Acquiring
  • The willingness and ability to learn new technical systems, as all day-to-day software has been internally developed which is internally managed and maintained
  • The ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business
  • The ability to follow the logic structure of code and to work with Developers; offering constructive suggestions when discussing improvements or changes
  • Any experience in Finance and Accounting - any money/transactions handling experience will be advantageous and preferred
  • Coding experience or broad knowledge. Day-to-day coding is not required, however experience with Python and/or C++ will be advantageous and preferred.
